The reason why so many people love candles is certainly due to the scents they give off. There are a multitude of scents to spread in your home, from sweet notes to more tangy tones. There are several reasons for scenting a candle. This can be to give an atmosphere to your house, or to repel mosquitoes. Do you want to scent your homemade candle with perfume or essential oil but you don't know how to go about it? Read our dosage advice and the different preparation steps to perfectly master the art of scenting your candles.
We recommend adding approximately 6 to 10% perfume relative to the weight of the wax. For example, for 100g of wax, you would add between 6 and 10g of perfume. How much to add will depend on the strength of the scent you want and the type of wax you are using. If you plan to use vegetable oils, vegetable butters or natural dyes in your candles, this is the stage of the process where you should add them.
Wax that is too hot risks reducing or even completely eliminating the scent of your candle. You must therefore wait for the optimal temperature to add the perfume drops. The ideal time to add your perfume or essential oil is when your wax is completely melted and at the right temperature. For vegetable wax, pour your perfume when the temperature of the wax is understood between 45 and 50°C. Then simply mix your scented wax gently using a wooden spatula to ensure the scent is well incorporated. Then pour the scented wax into your mold or container.
